The Fundamentals of Baccarat
Baccarat is a comparing card game played between a banker and a player. The objective is simple: predict which hand will have a total closest to nine. Each card carries specific point values—cards two through nine are worth their face value, tens and face cards equal zero, and aces count as one. The game's simplicity combined with favorable odds makes it appealing to both novice and experienced players.
In each round, both the player and banker receive two cards initially. If either hand totals eight or nine immediately, the round ends and winnings are paid. This is called a "natural." If neither hand achieves a natural, specific drawing rules determine whether additional cards are dealt. These rules are automatic—players do not choose whether to draw; the game mechanics dictate the action based on the hand's total value.
